Â
#FertilityHourIE, a new virtual meeting place for those affected by fertility issues has launched. Â Find it on Twitter every Tuesday between 9-10pm by entering the handle #FertilityHourIE. Â The chat is aimed at those facing fertility issues or having IVF. Fertility experts from a wide range of disciplines share advice, info and updates. #FertilityHourIE offers a way to access accurate information, share stories and valuable support on a whole range of fertility concerns from preconception to birth sequalae.
Â
Founder of the group, Helena Tubridy RGN RM, – a Fertility Therapist, IVF Coach and Blogger is a former midwife – said: ‘ We are really excited about breaking down the barriers around fertility issues and providing a medium for people to share their concerns, experiences and advice with each other.’ Â Recent statistics suggest that one in six Irish couples face fertility problems. Over 75% of IVF ends in failure and disappointment. Â Many couples risk huge financial debt with no guarantee of success. Â A quarter of all pregnancies sadly end in miscarriage. Â PTSD affects more than 10% of mothers after a traumatic birth experience, ruining what should be the happiest time of their lives. Tubridy continued: ‘Infertility can be an emotional rollercoaster for anyone. This chat will encourage people to ask questions and share with others experiencing fertility issues. Fertility professionals – reproductive endocrinologists, specialists, coaches, lawyers, counsellors and nutritionists etc – Â can connect and update. Too many people feel overwhelmed by their infertility and IVF experiences. Â Let’s break this taboo … and get talking,” says Tubridy, a veteran of 30 years in helping couples achieve pregnancy.’
The group meets every Tuesday under the Twitter handle #FertilityHourIE from 9pm-10pm. Â New members are encouraged to join and break the silence surrounding fertility issues in Ireland.
