Have a Heart

Fertility, memory and beating the ‘flu… why the link between these three is heartfelt!

The HeartMath Institute has been studying matters of the heart with very interesting research finds for 20 years.

heartBeyond Valentine cards and ECG waves, this 4-chambered double pump is more than the 35 million beats per year that sustain life!

Did You Know?

It contains 40,000 specialized Neuron cells. That’s the equivalent of a chunk of brain in most people. It forms a heart/brain system. These cells are integrated to allow learning, memory, feeling and sensing – completely independent of the brain!

With every beat of your heart, messages are relayed to the Nervous System control centre:

  • To over ride negative impact of stress hormones on memory and learning in the brain.
  • To stabilize delicate fertility hormones vital for fertility, conception and pregnancy and
  • To normalize immune response to virus and bacteria invasion. Pretty impressive!

Have a Heart

It’s not unusual to feel angry, guilty or just plain frightened when you feel your heart has let you down after an MI or heart attack. It has made you a ‘cardiac patient,’ at the mercy of medications  diet sheets, and exercise plans. You may wonder if every orgasm is going to kill you. Every one has a tale for you, helpful advice  for you and is monitoring you. You might be forgiven for imagining you are harbouring a recalcitrant, delinquent school boy, up to no good inside your chest.

Nonsense! Hearts are made of sterner stuff, recover well, given half a chance. The right mindset plays an vital role in cardiac rehabilitation.

Beginnings

Hearts are formed before brains, in the womb at 8 weeks.  You brain develops while your tiny heart is already beating!

A resting heart works harder than a sprinter’s shapely toned leg. Learn how to get the best from your very own mid-chest musical metronome.

Have a heart … a healthy heart!
Have a heart … a healthy heart!

Your heart not only keeps you alive, it impacts on well-being, intelligence, happiness and decision making. This very vital, dynamic, organ can be recruited to pump up the nervous system. It may slow you right down into the zone of relaxation, to sleep at night, deleting the stresses of the day. The relaxation here is very different to a Homer Simpson type of mindless blobbing out!

Synching with your heart may seem a bit ‘new age’ to the die hards, but is pleasant and easy to  learn. With Mindfulness you’ll notice the tangible benefits of taking back control. It totally adds up.
